Starbucks Taipei 101 holds the title of the tallest Starbucks in the world and the views of Taipei are incredible from its window seats. Located on the 35th floor of Taipei 101, an advance reservation and a minimum spend are required to visit. During our week exploring Taipei, we visited both Starbucks Taipei 101 and the Taipei 101 Observatory to check out the views and experience the two Taipei 101 highlights.

We wanted to share our guide on visiting Starbucks Taipei 101, the best time to visit and how to make a reservation for Starbucks Taipei 101.

This 35th-floor location has now been permanently closed.

Starbucks Taipei 101

Starbucks Taipei 101 is located 35 floors up in the iconic Taipei 101 building and holds the title of the highest Starbucks in the world. Surrounded by offices, Starbucks 101 is on the small side, seating about 30 customers.

It is not accessible to the public: an advance reservation is required and customers are escorted from the lobby to the coffee shop by Starbucks staff. This Starbucks branch also requires a minimum spend of NT $250 per person.

Starbucks Taipei 101 tip: make sure to pick up a Starbucks card. The design is unique with the Taipei 101 building.

How to make a reservation at Starbucks Taipei 101

Reservations are taken over the phone and can be made around a week to a day in advance. It can be difficult to get through to the line and not all staff speak English so we recommend asking your hotel to make a reservation on your behalf. If you are making your own reservation:

  • At the time of writing, the reservation number is +886 2 8101 0701
  • It’s best to ring at opening: Starbucks Taipei 101 is open from 7:30am on weekdays and 9am on weekends.
  • You may need to ring multiple times to get through to someone and even more so if you require an English speaking staff member
  • You will be given a reservation number which you will need to make note of. A staff member collects customers from the lobby and checks reservation numbers and names.

Starbucks Taipei 101 tip: entrance to Starbucks is based on you reservation number rather than the order you exit the elevator. The earlier you reserve a spot, the higher your place in the queue and the more likely it is you will be able to grab a window seat while visiting.

  • Customers are allocated a 90 minute time slot.
  • Shorts or slippers (we understood slippers to mean flip flop and sandal style footwear) are not permitted

The meeting point for Starbucks 101

A Starbucks staff member collects customers from the lobby of Taipei 101. The meeting point for the 35th floor Starbucks is accessible via the MRT or from street level. Make sure to arrive at least 5 minutes before your allocated time.

If you are entering from the MRT station:

  • Follow the signs for Taipei 101 exit 4.
  • Take the escalators from the right-hand side of the Taipei 101 food court to the office tower (as marked on the sign). The escalators are inside the food court rather than the ones at the entrance to the food court.
  • At the top of the escalators, walk straight ahead to the end of the building and turn left to reach the lobby of the office tower. You should see a Taipei 101 sign against a green hedge backdrop.
  • A Starbucks sign in the front corner marks the location of the queue.

If you are entering from street level:

  • The entrance is Door 7/Office Tower entrance.
  • A Love sculpture is located on the street just outside the entrance.

Visiting Starbucks Taipei 101

A Starbucks staff member collected us from the lobby just after 5pm, the time of our reservation. Together with the other customers for this time slot, we were whisked up in the elevator to the 35th floor of Taipei 101.

As we approached the Starbucks entrance, the group was ordered according to the last two digits of the reservation number.

Starbucks Taipei 101 tip: entrance to Starbucks is based on you reservation number rather than the order you exit the elevator. The earlier you reserve a spot, the higher your place in the queue and the more likely it is you will be able to grab a window seat while visiting.

Upon entering Starbucks, grab a window seat before ordering if there are any available. As we were the second group to enter on the 5pm slot we had our choice of window seats.

Starbucks Taipei 101 tip: the window seats run over two sides of Starbucks Taipei 101. We prefer the side window seats as we had a views of the mountains and the city but the front ones are awesome too!

We ordered some cakes and drinks and easily reached our minimum spend of $250NTD. Each time slot lasts 90 minutes and so we spent about an hour drinking our coffee and watching the sunset before we made our own way down to the lobby.

Starbucks Taipei 101 tip: if you spend the full 90minutes the Starbucks staff will escort you down to the lobby prior to picking up the next group of customers.

The amazing view

The best time to visit Starbucks Taipei 101

We visited the Taipei 101 Observatory first thing in the morning so opted for a sunset visit to Starbucks. The sunset views are lovely and it’s our favourite time for a visit.

Starbucks Taipei 101 or Taipei 101 Observatory

We visited the Taipei 101 observatory first thing in the morning and then made a trip to Starbucks Taipei 101 for sunset a few days later and we loved both! The novelty of visiting the highest Starbucks in the world is a highlight!

Taipei 101 is considerably more expensive (US $17 via Klook compared to a minimum spend of US $8 at Starbucks) but it’s lovely to see the city from what feels like the clouds! As well as the riding the world’s fastest elevator, we loved the outdoor observation deck on the 91st floor and its unobstructed views of the city.

The 88th floor houses the Taipei 101 wind damper, a 660-ton weight and engineering marvel which helps Taipei 101 stay upright.

Starbucks Taipei 101 tip: we purchased our tickets for Taipei 101 through Klook as our Taiwan activities were usually discounted when we booked in advance – click here to reserve tickets to Taipei 101

Starbucks Taipei 101 with kids

Taipei is a highlight of any Taiwan with kids itinerary! J had fun at both Starbucks Taipei 101 and the Taipei 101 Observatory and they were among our favourite things to do in Taipei with kids. Although the Starbucks caters to customers from the surrounding offices there was no issue bringing kids to Starbucks Taipei 101 and we saw lots of families in the coffee shop.

  1. Hi Elaine!
Thank you for your recommendation of Starbucks @ Taipei 101 as hubby and I both love coffee, especially if it comes with an amazing sunset view. Would like to check though if the minimal charge applies to kids too – we have 2 toddlers (1.5 and 3.5years) .

  2. Hi Elaine there is a comment saying the Starbucks at Taipei 101 is closed as of Nov 2022. Can you please confirm if it’s re-opened since your blog’s been updated as of 2023? Thank you. Nat.
